Working in sculpture, Dai Roberts seeks to find the point just before abstraction takes on a
recognisable form, making a detour before identification can take place. He is interested in the ways in
which the form of objects can pause before the application of concrete language and signification takes
place. In this process of slippage 'meaning' is created through in its own avoidance. Roberts creates
constellations of objects that sit together in a precarious balance in order to highlight the absurdity
and instability of understanding and communication.
